Winnetka Man Gets 20 Years for Robbing, Tying Up Family

A couple in their 60s and their adult son were tied up in a closet during the 2008 home invasion.

A 29-year-old Winnekta man and New Trier High School graduate was sentenced to 20 years in prison this week for a Barrington Hills home invasion in which he tied up a couple in their 60s and their adult son, according to an article in TribLocal.

Kuhn Kim has a history of mental illness, and was institutionalized for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, the article says. But the judge said his mental illness was not enough that he couldn’t appreciate the fact that he was committing a crime.
