Winnetka Blotter: Stolen Bike, iPod; Cash, Card Removed From Jacket

A summary of incidents reported in Winnetka April 4-9.

The following items are taken from the Winnetka Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please e-mail the editor with any questions or to provide proof of expungement.

April 9

Traffic Arrest: Jose Fernandez, 29, of Winnetka, was arrested on charge of driving with a suspended driver's license. Police also cited him for improper lane usage and possession of a fake identification card. His court is March 4.

April 8

Theft: An iPod was reported stolen from an unlocked gym locker at New Trier High School. The theft, which may have occurred April 6, caused an estimated loss of $359.

April 7

Theft: A man notified police after he discovered cash and credit cards missing from his jacket, which was at a construction site in the 500 block of Lincoln. The value of loss is $130.

Theft: A bicycle parked at the Winnetka Metra stop was reported missing. The loss was estimated at$450.

April 4

Traffic Arrest: Evarardo Vera-Hernandez, 20, of Chicago, was stopped by police at 1:10 a.m. in the 0-100 block of Indian Hill Road. He was arrested on a charge of driving without a valid driver's license. Police also cited him for driving without a rear registration plate light and driving without valid registration. His court date is May 4.
