Winnetka Blotter: Car Vandalized; Break-ins; DUI Arrest

A summary of incidents reported to police June 13-17.

The Winnetka Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please e-mail the editor with any questions or to provide proof of expungement.

June 19

Theft: A black men's Schwinn bicycle with blue flames valued at $520 was reported stolen from a bike rack in the 600 block of Green Bay Road.

June 18

Traffic Arrest: Daniel Pappano, 58, of Wilmette, was arrested at 1:42 a.m. in the 800 block of Sheridan Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also cited for improper lane usage, and his court date is July 26.

June 17

Minor in possession of alcohol: A 17-year-old Kenilworth boy was cited when he was found in possession of alcohol at 9:40 p.m. in the 1000 block of Sunset Road. His court date is July 26.

June 16

Traffic Arrest: Elisio Gonzalez, 43, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid driver's license. Police also cited him for improper lane usage and driving without a rear registration light. His court date is July 26.

Gonzalez was also found to have an outstanding traffic warrant from Dupage County.

Burglary to motor vehicle: The window of a car parked in the 500 block of Chestnut Street was smashed with an unknown object and a Garmin GPS navigation device was removed. The amount of the loss is $175.

Residential burglary: A resident in the 400 block of Maple notified police after a burglary at her home in which two cameras valued at $500 were stolen.

June 14

Burglary to motor vehicle: The window of a car in a parking garage the 800 block of Oak Street was broken and a Garmin GPS navigation device was removed. The amount of the loss is $80.

Criminal defacement: An officer noticed lettering spray painted in the tunnel near the Green Bay Trail.

June 13

Domestic battery: A man was arrested in the 700 block of Pine Street after a caller reported a battery incident. His court date is July 18.

Possession of cannabis: Two 19-year-old Winnetka men were cited for possession of cannabis in the 1100 block of Willow Road.

Criminal damage: A woman reported damage to the driver's side window of her car while it was parked in front of her residence in the 200 block of Ridge Road. The amount of the damage is $300.

Theft: An unlocked men's Schwinn bike was reported taken from a rack at New Trier High School. The bike was valued at $300.
