Suspicious Package Is 'Wizard of Oz'

The following reports were provided by the Northfield Police Department. Arrests and charges are accusations and do not indicate guilt.

Suspicious Package
On Sept. 26, an employee from the 700 block of Frontage Road reported a suspicious package arriving from someone he did not recognize, according to police. Inside a large envelope from the USPS was a DVD copy of the film Wizard of Oz, police say. The man was concerned because his daughter was acting in a Wizard of Oz play and he was not sure if the incident was related, according to police. Officers contacted the package's sender, an Ohio resident, who said the DVD was found inside a DVD player the Ohio resident bought from the complainant over Ebay, and he was returning the DVD to its original owner, according to police.

Stolen Car
On Sept. 24, a resident on the 300 block of Lockwood Avenue reported their 2011 Kia Sedona was missing from their driveway, according to police. The vehicle was later recovered by Winnetka officers, responding to a call of an unfamiliar car parked in a driveway on the 1100 block of Ash Street in Winnetka, police say. 

DUI
On Sept. 29, a resident on the 300 block of Linder Avenue reported a red Ford Explorer parked in a driveway with an unresponsive man in the car, according to police. Officers found Blas Heradia-Tovar, 46, of Mundelein, and transported him to Glenbrook hospital before charging him with DUI over .08, illegal transportation of alcohol and driving with a suspended license, according to police. 

Vehicular Burglary
On Sept. 24, a resident on the 300 block of Lockwood Avenue reported their car had been rummaged through and a battery jumper pack worth about $60 was taken, according to police. 

Hit and Run
On Sept. 26, a Northbrook resident reported a hit and run while she was parked at Temple Jeremiah on the 900 block of Happ Road, according to police. The Northbrook resident had damage on the passenger side of her vehicle, and a note left by a witness provided information about the driver responsible for the damage, according to police.
