Updated: String of Auto Burglaries Hits Winnetka, Glencoe and Wilmette

Some residents in Wilmette, Winnetka and Glencoe fell victim to a string of auto burglaries between the evening of Thurs. June 27 and the morning of Fri. June 28.

Five cars were burglarized in Winnetka between June 27 and June 28, according to Winnetka Police. A coach wallet, $10 and a small silver punch tool were stolen from a vehicle on the 1000 block of Merrill St. (The wallet was located later in the area.) Two vehicles at a residence on the 200 block of Fairview were burglarized, with a pair of $300 sunglasses stolen from one of the cars. A victim on the 200 block of Woodland Ave. found their front passenger side window broken open, and $400 worth of designer sunglasses were missing. 

A wallet, a can of PVC glue and a radar detector were removed during a burglary on the 1000 block of Merrill St. in Winnetka. A home on the 1100 block of Oakley Ave. was also broken into, but nothing appears to be missing. 

Six vehicles were burglarized in Wilmette between Thurs. and Fri. Four were between the 1500 and 1610 block fo Walnut Ave., while two were between the 830 and 920 block of Forest Ave. In one incident on Walnut Ave., police reports state that items removed from the vehicle were found a short distance away. 

A wallet stolen from a vehicle outside of Central School in Glencoe was also found a short distance away from the vehicle, with credit cards that were in the wallet scattered around. Another vehicle broken into outside of Central School reported that an iPod, an iPod adapter and a Bluetooth were missing from the vehicle. Both incidents happened between 1 and 2 a.m.
