Possible Identity Theft Connected To Kraft

The following reports were provided by the Northfield Police Department. Arrests and charges are accusations and do not indicate guilt. 

Disturbance

On March 1, around 10:40 a.m., Kraft Foods security on the 500 block of Waukegan Road requested police assistance for two men in a white truck who were removing items from the company's refuse container, according to police. Responding officers spoke with the men, who were sent on their way without incident, police say.

Domestic Battery

On Feb. 28, someone reported a male/female domestic disturbance in a vehicle, according to police. The car was stopped on Willow Road, west of Waukegan Road, with a female outside the vehicle, flagging passing motorists, police say.

Northfield police responded and arrested Lucas Hoffman, 22, of Fox Lake, the woman's son, and charged him with domestic battery after he hit the woman in her arm, according to police. Hoffman's mother told police he has a history or physical abuse towards family. 

Identity Theft

On Feb. 26, Northfield police took a report from a woman in San Antonio who received a letter from the IRS that she did not claim her earnings from Northfield-based Kraft Foods, even though she doesn't work for Kraft, according to police. Northfield police say they are now working with Kraft special investigation officers to determine what happened.

Stray Dog

On March 3, someone on the 500 block of Sunset Ridge reported a stray, Yellow Lab in the area, according to police. Responding officers found the dog, brought it to the station and placed it in a cage — it did not have a computer chip, only a collar with a rabies tag, police say. The dog's owner was contacted, who picked it up and received a citation for dog at large, according to police.
