Police Warn Businesses of Crime Spree

Police reports state that a suspect unlawfully entered three businesses in the Central Business District Thursday morning.

Winnetka Police sent out a Crime Prevention Alert on Thursday morning to local businesses about a series of unlawful entrances.

The Prevention Alert states that between 11 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., three stores in the central business district were unlawfully entered through unlocked back doors, reports state. When the suspect was confronted, he implied that he was a workman or making a delivery. At one store, a business owner reportedly confronted the suspect while he was rummaging through valuables, and a short struggle ensued, according to the Crime Prevention Alert.

The alert describes the suspect as an African-American male in his mid-30s. He's reportedly 5 ft., 8 inches, thin build, with shaved or close-cropped hair. He was last scene wearing a black jacket and black pants.
