Police Shoot Deer After Car Accident

Northfield police were helping the Illinois Department of Transportation after a deer was hit on the Edens.

On Aug. 20, a Northfield officer shot and killed a deer after it was hit by a car on the Edens, according to police. 

Illinois Department of Transportation contacted Northfield police when state police had no available officers to aid IDOT, police say. 

The deer was killed by the officer due to the severity of its injuries, and IDOT removed the animal's body from the roadway, according to police.
