Northfield Police Blotter: Woman Advised on Suspected Scam Call

A summary of incidents reported in Northfield from Aug. 20-22.

The Northfield Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please e-mail the editor with any questions or to provide proof of expungement.

The Northfield Police Department fielded a total of 100 calls this week from Aug. 16-22.

Damage to vehicle: A resident in the 200 block of Lagoon Drive found the driver's side mirror of his neighbor's vehicle lying in the street. He told police that earlier he had heard a "thumping" sound coming from outside about midnight. The damage was estimated at $200.

Suspected scam call: A resident reported she had been receiving phone calls since Aug. 18 from a person who claimed she had won a prize and was requesting personal information.

Police told the woman that it was a fraudulent call from a prepaid cell phone in Jamaica. When officers called the cell phone and identified themselves, the person on the other end cursed at them and hung up.

Police advised the complainant to change her number if the calls continued.

Vehicle burglary: A resident informed police that a camera was stolen overnight from her son's work truck at his residence at The Landmark between Aug. 16 and 17.

Revoked driver's license: Police stopped a car in the 1800 block of Willow Road for having a registration that expired in May. They also found that the driver was operating on a revoked license. He released on a $1,500 bond, and has a court date on Sept. 23.
