Northfield Police Blotter: Theft, Vandalism and Minors Consuming Alcohol

The following arrest information was supplied by the Northfield Police Department. In the case of an arrest, individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Consumption of alcohol by a minor

Police discovered six juveniles in a pool after hours at Northfield Square July 9. four were 17-year-old boys from Wilmette, Winnetka and Northfield.  All of the boys were drinking beer, while two girls present tested negative for alchohol. All of the minors were released to their parents. The boys' court date is Aug. 23.

No valid driver's license

Police stopped a 32-year-old Prospect Heights man for driving with an expired registration sticker July 5. They also discovered he had no valid driver's license. He was released on a $1,500 i-bond and was given a July 20 court date.

Police stopped a 34-year-old Chicago man for driving 50 mph in 35-mph zone near Willow and Sunset Ridge roads July 8. He also had no valid driver's license. He was released on a $1,500 i-bond and was given an Aug. 22 court date.

Police stopped a 55-year-old Chicago man for disobeying a stop sign in the 1400 block of Willow Road July 9. He was released on a $1,500 i-bond and given an Aug. 22 court date.

Theft

A resident in the 1900 block of Old Willow Road reported someone had stolen the mailbox off the post outside his house July 6. No others were missing in the area. The box was valued at $25.

The power went out at Dominick's (1822 Willow Rd.) at approximately 2 p.m. July 7, and a woman reported someone removed her wallet from her shopping cart. Employees later found the wallet in the store, but $120 cash had been removed.

A resident in the 2200 block of Winnetka Road reported his outdoor Trane air conditioning unit had been stolen July 7. The loss is estimated at $5,000.

A 25-year-old Skokie woman was driving north in the southbound lanes near Happ and Winnetka roads around 4:40 a.m. July 9. Her vehicle's headlights were on bright setting, and when police pulled her over they discovered she had no valid driver's license. She was cited her for driving in the wrong lane, failure to dim her brights and driving without a license. She was released on a $1,500 i-bond and given an Aug. 22 court date.

Vandalism

Police on patrol observed a portable toilet that had been tipped over at Sunset Ridge School (525 Sunset Ridge Rd.). They key holder was notified.
