Northfield Police Blotter: Removal and Criminal Damage to a Golf Cart

A summary of events from Aug. 10 to Aug. 12.

The Northfield Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please e-mail the editor with any questions or to provide proof of expungement.

Criminal damage: A driver heard shattering glass outside in the 1700 block of Northfield Square around 7:15 p.m. When she went out to investigate, she saw rock on the ground next to the shattered rear window of her red Ford Explorer. The window was valued at $500.

Theft over $500: After an elderly customer at Starbucks (1801 Willow Rd.) visited the restroom, he came back to discover that his briefcase was missing. Inside were personal papers, glasses, and hearing aids, which brought the total damages to $4,300.

Theft under $500: A couple stole a dozen containers of baby formula from Dominick's (1822 Willow Rd.) in the woman's purse. The cost was estimated at $211.28.

Aug. 11

Criminal damage: Overnight, someone removed a golf cart from the High Five Sports Camp (525 Sunset Ridge Rd.) even though the steering wheel was changed. The offender(s) knock down two walls of a nearby tent and melted the door off a cabinet that contained office supplies, which were untouched. Estimated damages were $1,200.

Aug. 12

Theft under $500: A resident in the 1500 block of Willow Road noticed the gas cap hanging from her 1998 Ford Mustang. Her previously full gas tank was missing around $50 worth of fuel.

Suspended driver's license: Police made a routine traffic stop in the 1600 block of Willow Road after a 29-year-old Indiana driver disobeyed a stop sign. He was cited for driving with a suspended license, driving with an obstructed windshield, and disobeying a traffic sign. His bond was $1,000, and his court date will be Sept. 1.
