Northfield Police Blotter: Paranoia Returns, Driving Violations and More
The following arrest information was supplied by the Northfield police department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Sunday, Nov. 6
Potential credit card fraud: A Northfield resident on Country Lane received a camera via UPS that she did not order. The woman suspects that someone might have used her American Express card to order the item. She called Target to decline and return the device, as well as canceled her card. Because no other charges were made to the credit card, police are unsure if this was an administrative mistake or if the purchase was made fraudulently.

No driver's license: A 45-year-old Chicago man was pulled over around 12 a.m. in the 1900 block of Willow Road for driving without tail lights. Police found that although he had been in the country for the past 10 years, he had never received a driver's license. He was released on a $1,500 i-bond and given a Dec. 15 court date.

Attempted retail theft: A woman tried to steal from Walgreen's (1825 Willow Rd.) by slipping some containers of lotion in her purse. The suspect realized she was being watched, however, and stashed the items in the bathroom. Because they weren't on her person when police confronted her, she was unable to be charged.
Criminal damage: A resident on Hibbard Road found two lamps knocked off their posts outside his house. The total damage was estimated at $1,150.
No motorcycle license: Police stopped a 15-year-old Winnetka boy because he was not wearing proper eye protection while he drove a passenger on a motorcycle in the 100 block of West Frontage Road. He also was driving without a license or insurance. He was given a $2,000 i-bond and a Dec. 23 court date.
Sunday, Nov. 13
DUI: A 76-year-old Northbrook woman pulled out in front of an oncoming car on Waukegan Road around 9:25 p.m. The car struck her, and she was later found to be under the influence of alcohol. She was taken to the hospital, along with her 81-year-old passenger and the other passenger. She was released on a $3,000 i-bond and given a Dec. 15 court date.
Disturbance: Police responded to Sunset Ridge Road and Burr Oak Road after receiving a call about a teenager running around naked. When they arrived, they found a clothed 16-year-old male who told them a group of kids had been playing a game called "Paranoia." In the game, one player runs around unclothed while the others try to shoot him with Nerf guns. Officers tracked down the boy and his parents and advised them not to play the game any more.
Theft: An unattended iPhone was stolen at a large Halloween party in the 200 block of Bristol Street. The property is valued at $200.
Monday, Nov. 14
No driver's license: A 36-year-old Chicago man was stopped around 5 a.m. on Willow Road for improper lane usage. Police found that he had insurance but had never been issued a driver's license. He was released on a $1,500 recognizance bond and given a Dec. 15 court date.
