Northfield Police Blotter: Driving Follies Prompt Tickets
The reports provide a summary of incidents from Sept. 13-20.
The Northfield Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please e-mail the editor with any questions or to provide proof of expungement.

Theft: A woman reported that she discovered her purse was missing around 5:30 p.m. as she prepared to leave her office at 456 W. Frontage Rd. The purse and its contents were valued at $200.
Using a handicap card issued to another: A police officer observed a 40-year-old Northbrook woman park her vehicle in a handicap spot outside of a Dominick's and walk without any apparent difficulty into the supermarket. After confiscating the placard, the officer found it was registered to an 89-year-old woman who had reported it missing. The driver said the older woman was her aunt, who was not present. The motorist was issued a $250 citation.

Sept. 16
Suspended driver's license: Police caught a 26-year-old Waukegan man driving on a suspended license when they stopped his vehicle at Willow Road and Three Lakes Drive because a headlight had burned out. The driver had an expired registration and no insurance, according to the report. He was given a $2,000 bond and an Oct. 6 court date.
Sept. 17
Driving under the influence: Police stopped a 26-year-old Palatine man when they observed his vehicle drifting onto the shoulder. When officers approached, they reported smelling the odor of alcohol emanating from the car. The driver failed a field sobriety test and refused to undergo a Breathalyzer test. He was charged with improper lane usage and driving under the influence. He was given a $1,500 bond and a court date of Oct. 6.
Sept. 18
No driver's license: A 34-year-old Chicago man was stopped when police noticed his vehicle's headlight was out. As they reviewed his documents, they discovered that he had never been issued a driver's license. He was released on a $1,500 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 6.
Sept. 19
Suspended driver's license: A 19-year-old Wilmette man was slapped with a $1,500 bond and a court date of Oct. 6, when police pulled him over for driving without a front license plate. During the stop, police found that the man was driving despite having both a suspended license and expired insurance.
