Northfield Police Blotter: Burglary, Theft, Criminal Damage

A summary of reported incidents from June 28-July 5.

The Northfield Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please e-mail the editor with any questions or to provide proof of expungement.

June 28

Unlawful weapon: Police responded to a tip about juveniles playing with fireworks at Willow Park in the 1900 block of Willow Road. The fireworks turned out to be legal, but officers did find an illegal 11-inch hunting knife in the possession of a 15-year-old boy from Northbrook. When the boy's mother arrived, police gave her the knife under the stipulation that she would discuss the matter with her son.

June 29

Hit-and-run damage: A resident found her vehicle had been struck while it was parked in the lot at the Dominick's supermarket, 1822 Willow Rd., but the other driver had left the scene without leaving any information.

July 1

Theft of more than $500: A woman reported that fine silverware was stolen from her house on Old Hunt Road. She was unsure when the theft took place because she did not use the items very often. 

July 2

Theft of less than $500: An employee of Tapas Gitan, 310 S. Happ Rd., reported that his blue 12-speed bicycle was stolen between 2 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. July 1. He said it had been locked to a No Parking sign.

July 4

Criminal damage to property: A resident reported graffiti on a foot bridge in the 1800 block of Bosworth Lane. There were two symbols were drawn using black spray paint.

Auto burglary: A man reported that $100 was taken overnight from his wallet, which was in his unlocked car parked in his driveway in the 100 block of Wagner Road.
