Northfield Police Blotter: Burglary and Reckless Driving

A summary of Northfield mischief from Oct. 4 to 10.

The Northfield Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please e-mail the editor with any questions or to provide proof of expungement.

No driver's license: A 35-year-old Chicago man was stopped for improper lane use in the 700 block of West Frontage Road. The officer found he had never been issued a driver's license. The driver was let go on a $1,500 i-bond and given a Nov. 9 court date.

Criminal damage: In the 300 block of Graemere Lane, a resident found the window of the storm door on his porch shattered. There were no clear signs of forced entry, and no cost estimate was available.

Oct. 7

Bomb threat: An anonymous caller rang (1825 Willow Rd.) around 3:50 p.m. and told a manager there was a bomb in the store. Police cleared and checked that was everything okay, but the case is still under investigation.

Oct. 8

Hit and run: Around 11:30 p.m., an unknown vehicle struck a mailbox in the 200 block of Meadowbrook Drive and left the scene.

Identity theft: A resident of the 900 block of Southridge Terrace found that someone had tried to use her personal information to open a line of credit. When Well's Fargo called to verify the loan application, she told them it had been made without her consent.

Burglary: Someone perpetrated a ruse burglary on a resident in the first block of Regent Wood Road. The suspect gave the resident a fake reason in order to get access to the home—in this case to get water. The resident later discovered around $500 of jewelry missing.

Suspended license: A 52-year-old Skokie man was stopped for driving through a parking lot to avoid a construction zone. Police discovered he was driving on a suspended license and stuck him with a $1,500 i-bond and an Oct. 28 court date.

Oct. 9

No driver's license: A 22-year-old Chicago woman was stopped for going 52 mph in a  35 mph zone in the 400 block of Wagner Road. The officer found that she had never been issued a driver's license. She was released on a $1,500 i-bond and given a court date of Nov. 9.

Oct. 10

Speeding: A 17-year-old Morton Grove boy drove 109 mph in a 55 mph zone at I-94 and Winnetka Road around 1:44 a.m. He also had expired registration. Police gave him a $2,000 i-bond and an Oct. 28 court date.

Speeding: A 44-year-old Evanston man was recorded on radar at 90 mph at the same location around 3:32 a.m. He was given a $1,500 i-bond and an Oct. 28 court date.

Speeding: A 20-year-old Chicago man was given three citations at I-94 and Willow Road around 5 a.m.: one for going 89 mph in a 55-mph zone, another for not having a valid driver's license, and one for not having insurance. He was released on a $2,000 i-bond and given a court date of Oct. 28.
