Northfield Police Blotter: Account Used After Wallet Stolen; Tool Theft; Illegal Alcohol Consumption

A summary of reports from March 29-April 5.

The following items are taken from Northfield Police Department reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Northfield Police Department received a total of 72 calls this week.

March 29:

Theft: A woman reported that her wallet was stolen from her purse, suspecting that it occurred around 1:35 p.m. while she was shopping at the Dominick's supermarket at 1822 Willow Rd. The wallet contained $15, credit cards, a driver's license and membership cards. The woman canceled her cards, but not before four transactions were made. Police estimated the total property loss to be $115.

Vandalism: A woman reported that eggs were thrown at her house in the 200 block of West Frontage Road on March 28.

Illegal alcohol consumption: A 16-year-old boy was cited in the 300 block of West Frontage Road after police found indications that he had been drinking alcohol. His court date is May 2.

March 30:

Credit card fraud: A man reported that the unauthorized use of his credit card after he received packages he did not order, which was placed between March 23 and March 30. The case is under investigation.

Suspended driver's license: A 46-year-old man was arrested along North Happ Road and charged after police found that he was driving with a suspended license. He was given a court date and released on bond.

March 31:

Burglary: A man reported gardening tools were stolen from his garage in the 700 block of North Happ Road between October and late March. The estimated value of the lost tools is $200.

Retail theft: Police apprehended two men, both from Chicago, after they received a report that a security guard from a Dominick's store was chasing theft suspects down Willow Road. One man was released, but the other was charged with stealing a $25 bottle of vodka. He was let go on a $1,000 bond, and his court date is May 13.
