Northfield Police Arrest Chicago Woman With Crack Pipe

After pulling over a Chicago woman for having a broken headlight, officers found a glass crack pipe on her car seat.

The following reports were provided by the Northfield Police Department. Arrests and charges are accusations, and do not indicate guilt.

Hit and Run

On Feb. 21, Northfield police received a call from On-Star about a crash near Willow Rd. and Central Ave., according to police. Responding officers founds two cars that had been victim of a hit and run, police say.

According to reports, a red vehicle struck an Ameritech company vehicle, causing the Ameritech vehicle to hit a Pontiac Vibe in front. The offending vehicle left the scene after the accident, police say.

On Feb. 20, officers pulled over Marzena Salgado, 34, of Chicago, for having a broken headlight, according to police. When officers found her driver's license had expired in Nov. 2005, police asked her to step out of the vehicle and saw that she was sitting on a glass crack pipe, which she told officers was used for smoking marijuana and cocaine, according to police. She was arrested and released on bond.

Consumption of Alcohol By Minors

On Feb. 23, officers responded to a home on the 100 block of Dickens Rd. after reports of a possible underage party, according to police. Officers were invited into the house where they found beer and hard alcohol containers, police say. 

Four minors were cited for consumption of alcohol — a male, 14, from Evanston, a female, 14 from Northfield and two females, 14 and 15, from Wilmette, according to police. 

No Drivers License

On Feb. 22, Northfield officers arrested Alberto Gomez, 26, of Chicago, for driving with out a license, without insurance and driving too fast for conditions, after he hit a car while skidding in snow, according to police. 

Accident

On Feb. 25, someone reported a vehicle hacked into the Northfield Dental Office building on the 1700 block of Orchard Ln., according to police. 

Animal

On Feb. 25, someone reported an injured dear with broken front legs on the 200 block of Latrobe Ave., according to police. Responding officers found an injured dear, but it was still able to move, police say.
