Northfield Police Arrest Chicago Man For Heroin Possession

Paul Caruana, 33, of Chicago, was found sleeping in the Gand Music parking lot when he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, police said.

The following reports were provided by the Northfield Police Department. Arrests and charges are accusations and do not indicate guilt.

Possession of a Controlled Substance

On Feb. 16, someone reported a black Nissan with a suspicious sleeping person was parked in the south lot of Gand Music, 780 Frontage Rd., according to police.

Responding officers found Paul Caruana, 33, of Chicago, sleeping in the car, and after an investigation, he was arrested for possession of heroin, Codeine and drug paraphernalia, police say. He was released on bond, his next court date is set for Feb. 26.

On Feb. 15, police say they received numerous calls about a rollover accident with injuries on northbound I-94 lanes between Lake Ave. and Willow Rd. The Northfield Fire Department responded and found the crash north of Winnetka Rd. on the right shoulder, according to police. 

Irritated Caller

On Feb. 10 around 9:30 p.m., a security guard at Kraft headquarters received a call from a Kraft customer in Texas who was irritated that their food was tainted, police say. Northfield police say they called the person who explained he was irritated and would not call again.

Social Services

On Feb. 18, someone on the 100 block of Coach Rd. reported an unknown male subject was banging on their front door, saying "Sheriff, let me in," police say. Responding officer found the homeowner's son at the door, and social services form was completed by the son over concern for his elderly parents' confusion, according to police.

Suspicious Person

On Feb. 14, a female subject called police to report she was being followed by a blue sedan as she walked east from Clarkson Park, according to police. Following an investigation, police say they determined the case was unfounded.

Suspicious Auto

On Feb. 13, someone on the 200 Lockwood Ave. reported a dark colored pickup truck had been running for a long time outside her house, police say. Responding officers found two community members who were just talking, according to police. 

Protect Your Small Animals

On Feb. 7, someone on the 700 block of Sunset Ridge Rd. spotted a coyote, according to police. 

Harassment

On Feb. 14, someone on the 1800 block of Willowview Ter. reported receiving harassing phone calls sent to his business line, according to police. 

On Feb. 18, someone on the 300 block of S. Happ Rd. reported a former employee had been sending harassing messages over the phone, according to police.
