Northfield Cops Arrest Dundee Man After Hit and Run

Hit and Run
On Dec. 30, a driver reported her car was struck from behind while she was stopped at a red light near Willow and Waukegan roads, according to police. The offending vehicle sped off, but the victim followed the car until it entered the southbound I-294 expressway, police say.

The victim was able to provide a license plate number, which led officer to Randy R. Carl, 30, of Dundee, according to the police report. After contacting Carl, he admitted to the hit and run, and returned to the Northfield police department where he was arrested, police say.

Carl was charged with failure to reduce speed, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give aid or info and failure to notify police of an accident, according to police. 

DUI
On Jan. 4, an officer saw a vehicle in a snowdrift with its lights on and engine running, according to police. The driver was unresponsive and the officer saw open alcohol in the car's passenger seat, police say. The officers arrested the driver, Christian S. Rayner, 36, of Engleside, for DUI of .296, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage, according to police. 

Vehicular Burglary
On Dec. 30, a catalytic converter was reported stolen from a car that had been parked at New Trier High School on 7 S. Happ Rd. on Dec. 23, according to police.
