A recap of incidents reported to police in Northfield from Feb. 16-21

The following items are taken from Northfield Police Department reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuesday, Feb. 22
Hit-and-Run Arrest: A 21-year-old Chicago man was arrested on charges of hitting a car and fleeing the scene of the accident on Feb. 7, at Willow Road and Walnut Avenue. A man traveling westbound on Willow Road was waiting for the vehicle in front of him to turn when his car was hit in the rear-driver’s side by a Ford Mustang. The driver who hit his vehicle allegedly fled the scene in his Mustang and officers later discovered the vehicle parked in the Orchard Street municipal lot, approximately less than a quarter mile from the scene of the accident. Officers then got a search warrant for the vehicle and seized a plastic bag containing a green leafy substance. Officers then arrested the man at the Highland Baking Company in Northbrook at 9:50 a.m. and he was cited with a misdemeanor hit and run for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident with damage and a misdemeanor for unlawful possession of cannabis. He was also charged with four traffic citations; leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance, no valid driver’s license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The man posted bond and his court date is set for March 10 at 9 a.m., in courtroom 101.
