Northfield Blotter: Fraud, Lost Ankle Monitor, Overweight Vehicles

A summary of events from March 21 to 28.

The following items are taken from Northfield Police Department reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Wednesday, March 23:

Overweight vehicle: A man was stopped and fined $840 for his vehicle being too heavy.

Thursday, March 24:

Fraud: A woman reported that her late husband's social security number had been used by an unknown individual to file an income tax return. The case is under investigation.

Found ankle monitor: An IDOT worker found what appeared to be an ankle monitor on the southbound side of interstate 90/94 near the Dempster exit. The Department of Corrections advised it would retrieve the device.

Suspended driver's license:  A man was arrested for driving with a suspended license. He was released the same day on i-bond.

Friday, March 25:

Overweight vehicle: A man was stopped and fined $1,362 for his vehicle being too heavy.
