Northfield Blotter: Forgery, Drug Possession and Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the Northfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

April 24

Forgery: Between April 9 and April 20, someone in Pittsburgh, Pa. electronically created a check that used the bank account of a Northfield resident. The resident alerted his bank about the $1,880.10 fraud, and the case was turned over to the Pittsburgh jurisdiction.

Theft: A 47-year-old man dropped off his vehicle at Fields BMW (700 W. Frontage Rd.) to have a lightbulb changed. When he returned, his silver iPod was missing. The device was valued under $300.

April 25

Drug possession: noticed a white Nissan in the private parking lot behind the North Shore Senior Center (161 Northfield Rd.). As they approached, they observed a 19-year-old Wilmette woman in the front seat with a bowl of marijuana. They also found drug paraphernalia in the car. She had a passenger, but he was released without charges. She, however, was given a May 23 court date.

April 27

Retail theft: A Dominick's customer reported to police that she saw a 14-year-old boy run across the street after taking a bag of chips (worth $1.07) from the store without paying. Police found him hiding in a garbage can. He was charged with theft and resisting a peace officer, and he was referred to a peer jury.

No driver's license: Police stopped a 36-year-old Winnetka man in the 1600 block of Willow Road for not having a front registration plate on his card. They also discovered that he had no driver's license but had been in the U.S. since 2010. He was released on a $1,500 bond and given a court date of May 15.
