Northfield Blotter: DUI, Man Refuses Help Getting Home, Wants to Run Home

From traffic arrests to an odd disorderly conduct, here are the latest reports from Northfield Police Department.

Christopher R. Moilanen, 35, of 2117 W. Hoard St., Evanston was cited Dec. 14 for driving in the wrong lane, driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver and driving with a blood alcohol content level greater than .08, following a traffic stop on W. Frontage Road and Central Avenue. Police reports say Moilanen’s vehicle was driving down the center medium on Frontage Road. Moilanen had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, police said. The vehicle’s tire had shredded to the rim and the rim was also damaged, police said. Police found an empty can of beer inside the glove box and six Coors Light beer behind the passenger seat, according to police reports. 

Ryan Nicolas Richardson, 24, of 10775 E. Quail Run Rd., Cornville, Arizona, was cited Dec. 16 for parking where prohibited, driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol by driver following a traffic stop at Linder and Willow. Police say Richardson appeared to be sleeping when they approached the parked vehicle and did not respond to repeated knocking on the window or light. Police turned off the ignition, removed the key and tried to wake Richardson. When Richardson started to wake up, he attempted to place the vehicle in drive when police asked for his driver’s license. Police found an opened partially consumed beer in the central console of the vhicle, according to the report. Richardson was later released on a $3,000 Ibond and issued a Jan. 10 court date.

Derek K. Jeske, 37, of 6119 N. Tripp Ave., Chicago, was arrested Dec. 17 for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level greater than .08, and cited for improper lane usage and driving with an expired license, following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Willow Road. Police say they saw Jeske’s vehicle weaving in the lane and police later found an open partially full, cold beer next to the driver seat. He was later released on $3,000 I-bond and issued a Feb. 14 court date. 

Traffic Arrest

Osvaldo Sanchez-Martin, 27, of 5729 S. Austin, Chicago, was arrested Dec. 14 for driving without a valid driver’s license and with an expired registration following a traffic stop at Willow and Sunset Ridge Road. He was released on $1,500 I-bond and issued a Jan. 10, 2013, court date. 

Disorderly Conduct

A man was charged with two local ordinance citations for disorderly conduct and disobeying a peace officer on Dec. 16 in the 600 block of Sunset Ridge Road.  Police say four people were chasing the man because he was intoxicated and jumped out of the car. Police tried talking the man into going home but the man kept saying he wanted to run home, police said. After resisting his friend’s effort to take him home, hitting his friend and resisting arrest, police brought the man back to the station, police said.  The man was issued a Jan. 11 court date.
