UPDATED: Man Attacks Woman During Winnetka Home Invasion
Winnetka police are investigating an intrusion that resulted in injuries Wednesday morning.
UPDATED: Thursday, 12 p.m.
A man entered a house in Winnetka and attacked a female domestic worker who was home at the time, according to Patrick Kreis, Winnetka's interim chief of police.
The woman's injuries were not life-threatening. She was attacked by the intruder and defended herself, which caused the man to flee the house on foot, Kreis said.

When officers arrived at the home near Sheridan Road and Scott Avenue at 11:25 a.m., the offender was gone. Police are currently investigating the incident. Kreis would not comment on the investigation or any possible suspects Thursday morning.
"We conducted a thorough search of the area," Kreis said. A telephone notification system was also employed early Wednesday afternoon to alert residents in the area of the attack, Kreis said.

The suspect is described as white male, 6 feet tall and 25-35 years old. He has a slim build and dark complexion, and was last seen wearing a light gray long-sleeved shirt with a hood, according to the release.

"This is a very serious matter that we are going to use all available resources to solve," Kreis said.
