Lighting Causes House Fire in Glencoe

Neighbors told the Fire Department they heard loud booms overnight Saturday.

Glencoe officials have said that a home fire in the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue Saturday morning was caused by lighting, The Chicago Tribune reports.

Mike Volling, the Fire Chief for the Glencoe Department of Public Safety, called the incident a "total loss," according The Trib. A neighbor called in the fire around 3 a.m. citing that "flames were going through the roof."

Highland Park, Northbrook, Northfield, Winnetka, Wilmette, Morton Grove, Long Grove and Highwood authorities helped to get the fire down in about more than an hour.

Meanwhile the homeowners have been out of town, according to nearby residents.
