News You Can Use: Glencoe Police Issue Burglary Alert

Check out the reminders for protecting your home from burglary during the holiday season.

The Department of Public Safety issued an alert to remind residents to exercise caution during the holiday season. In a phone interview, Deputy Chief Alan Kebby said, "The key is to make your house looked lived-in when you're not there."

In the past week, there have been three reported burglaries, which police believe to be linked.

and one was reported on Dec. 22.

  • Lock your doors and windows
  • Turn on your alarm system
  • Leave lights on at night
  • Secure any valuables in a safe deposit box
  • Record serial numbers of any electronics
  • Take pictures of valuables including jewelry
  • Have a neighbor take in mail and newspapers while you are away
  • Check on your neighbor’s house while they are out of town
