Glencoe Police Blotter: Graffiti, Identity Theft and Burglary Charge

The following arrest information was supplied by the Glencoe Public Safety Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

April 13

Identity Theft: A resident reported that someone had fraudulently filed a tax return using his name and social security number. The IRS was notified, and police are investigating. The resident said that the breach occurred two to three weeks earlier.

Criminal Damage: A public works official discovered graffiti on a railroad overpass in the 300 block of Hazel Avenue on April 16. Police said the spray paint appears to be gang graffiti and believe it will cost about $100 to clean up.

Burglary: Police charged a 19-year-old Evanston resident for a burglary in the 200 block of Lake Street that occurred on Jan. 26. Polcie identified the man and charged him with burglary at 10 a.m. in Evanston this week.
