Glencoe Police Blotter: Four Thefts and One Burglary

The following arrest information was supplied by the Glencoe Public Safety Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

March 28

Theft: A resident in the 400 block of Madison Avenue reported that someone made an unauthorized, online purchase from Wal-Mart using his debit card for $1,072 sometime on March 18. Police turned the case over to the fraud division at Wal-Mart.

March 29

Theft: A resident reported at 10:49 a.m. that someone took a package off the front porch of her house in the 200 block of Hawthorn Avenue. The package’s worth was $191 and included an 8.4-pound Seder plate.

Soliciting without Permit: A 21-year-old Chicago man was charged with soliciting without a permit for a landscaping company at Greenwood and Hazel avenues. Police discovered an outstanding warrant for failure to appear at a court hearing in Chicago. He paid Glencoe’s $25 fine and a $200 bond for Chicago.

March 31

Theft: A resident in the 600 block of Skokie Lane reported that someone stole her iMac computer from inside her house, possibly during a flood clean-up. She said that the theft occurred between Jan. 2 and Jan. 18. Police are investigating the case.

Burglary: A resident in the 1100 block of Terrace Court reported that someone forcibly entered his parents’ house and went through all the drawers. The parents have not yet returned home from vacation, and therefore the extent of missing items is unclear.

Suspended License: A 26-year-old man from Evanston was charged with driving with a suspended license at the intersection of Green Bay Road and Jefferson Avenue at 3:03 p.m. Police also cited him for speeding. His court date is April 24, and he was released on a $1,500 bond.

March 30

Animal Complaint: A resident in the 300 block of Park Place reported that a raccoon was inside her home at 9:42 p.m. Police said they resolved the case.

April 3

Theft: Between 3 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. a resident reported that someone took items from her backyard in the 200 block of Greenwood Avenue. Items, totaling $625 in value, included a metal trellis, a Weber gas grill, a man’s mountain bike and a broken push lawnmower. The resident believes metal scrappers may have taken the items because a recent house fire damaged some of the items and rendered them useless.
