Glencoe Police Blotter: After Hour Beach Party and One-Way Street Driver

The following information was supplied by the Glencoe Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Theft

A resident reported a Giant Builer 26-inch mountain bike was stolen from the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue at Central School sometime between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. June 2.  The bike, which was left unlocked, is back and white and valued at $300.

A resident reported a Gary Fischer Tarpon 26-inch bike was stolen from the Metra Train Depot at 724 Old Green Bay Road between 8:15 a.m. June 6 and 7 a.m. June 7.  The bike is silver and black and was reportedly locked at the time it was taken. It's value is estimated at $300.

Trespass and Illegal Consumption of Alcohol

Seven juveniles were cited for prohibited trespass and minor consumption of alcohol on June 11 at 10 p.m. at Dell Beach, at Dell Place and Lakeside Terrace.  The beach closes at 7 p.m. Each was given a $75 fine and released to their parents due to the incident being a first time offense for all individuals cited.  

Suspended Driver’s license

Jeffrey R. Applebaum, 50, of the 400 block of North Wabash, Chicago, was charged with disobeying a traffic control device, no insurance and driving on a suspended license.  According to police, he was apprehended after driving one-way in a construction area and into oncoming traffic at Sheridan Road and Maple Hill on June 9 at 9:30 p.m.  Applebaum posted $2,000 bond and has a
scheduled court date for August 1.
