He is now being held on a $5 million bond at Cook County Jail in Chicago. His court date is April 8 at Skokie courthouse.

Police Station Tantrum — A 38-year-old Waukegan man went on a rampage in the police station after he was initially arrested on a charge of speeding. Police also filed charges of criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct and interfering with 911 communications.

Police arrested the man at 4:23 a.m. at the intersection of Clavey Road and U.S. Route 41 in Highland Park after he was clocked driving at 102 mph in a 55 mph zone along a stretch of the Edens Expressway. The driver did not stop his green 1996 Chevrolet Lumina until it reached Clavey Road, according to police.

Glencoe Police said the driver had gotten an earlier ticket for going 74 mph in a 40 mph zone in Highland Park. Once released at 5:41 a.m. inside the Glencoe Village Hall, police said the man damaged the public computers in the lobby by ripping out the mouse and keyboards. He continuously called 911 from the vestibule as well as banged and screamed at the dispatch window. He then brought in rock salt from outside and dumped it in the lobby.

He also destroyed a computer downstairs at the booking station after police arrested him a second time.

The man could not make bond and is being held at the Cook County Jail in Chicago. His court date is set for April 15.
