Glencoe Blotter: One More Car Burglary; Hitchhiker Stopped on Green Bay Road

A summary of crimes reported in Glencoe from Feb. 17-23.

The following items are taken from the Glencoe Public Safety Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Feb. 22

Disorderly Conduct — Harassing e-mails were reported at 8:39 a.m. at the Central School in the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue.

Suspicious Incident — A woman reported a suspicious person entering her home at 6:32 p.m. in the 400 block of Madison Avenue. Police found no evidence that anyone had been there.

Feb. 19

Hitchhiker — A man was spotted hitchhiking up Green Bay Road at Lake Cook Road at 1:46 a.m. He was dropped off at Metra's Braeside Station for the night. He said he was going to Green Bay, WI.

Suspicious Phone Calls — A woman in the 400 block of Dundee Road reported to police that she received prank calls from teenagers who spoke in a gangster-type voice at 8:50 p.m.

Loud Party — Police were called about a loud party in the 100 block of Wentworth Avenue at 11:37 p.m.

 

Feb. 18

Theft — A 26-year-old Chicago man was stopped for driving a blue 1995 Ford F-150 pickup truck with no front license plate at 9:45 a.m. at Dundee and Hohlfelder roads. The rear license plate was obstructed by a rope that was holding the tailgate in place. Police said the driver had license plates in the bed of the truck that didn't belong to him. The man was charged with theft and driving with a suspended license. He was also cited for an obstructed license plate. His court hearing is set for March 15.

Driving with Suspended License — A 39-year-old Chicago woman was pulled over in her black 2010 Audi Q7 Utility vehicle for driving 51 mph in a 30 mph zone at 3:22 p.m. Police made the stop along Green Bay Road at Park Avenue. The woman was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license. Her court hearing is set for April 1 in Skokie.

Intoxicated Subject — A drunken woman stepped off a Metra train at Green Bay Road and Temple Court at 1:25 a.m. She was transported to Winnetka.

Suspicious Auto — Car occupants were found sleeping inside the vehicle in the 400 block of Madison Avenue at 3:19 a.m. They told police that they were waiting for an estate sale.

Found Item — A driver's license and a money clip with $11 was found at 9:39 a.m. in the 700 block of Bluff Street.

 

Feb. 17

Burglary — An unlocked 2006 Mercedes was burglarized at 5:38 p.m. in the 1000 block of Forest Avenue. A pair of sneakers and a Garmin GPS device valued at $150 were stolen.

Attempted Fraud — A woman tried to cash a bad check at Bank of America in the 300 block of Park Avenue at 12:23 p.m.

Found Item — A cell phone was found at the corner of Temple Court and Vernon Avenue at 3:27 p.m.
