Glencoe Blotter: Woman Spots Prowler; Railroad Gates Crash Down on Vehicle

A summary of crimes reported in Glencoe from Dec. 9 to Dec. 15

The following items are taken from the Glencoe Public Safety Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Dec. 15

Wires Down — Telephone wires were reported down over the street in the 200 block of South Avenue at 3:50 p.m. and the 800 block of Sheridan Road at 3:52 p.m.

Dec. 14

Found Item — An Illinois state ID was found at 4:30 p.m. at the corner of Park Avenue and Old Green Bay Road.

 

Dec. 13

Found Article — A set of keys was found at 4:06 p.m. on the 600 block of Vernon Avenue. The silver key chain had retail cards for Vitamin Shoppe, CVS/pharmacy, Perfect Fit, Men's Wearhouse, L.A. Fitness, PetSmart PetPerks, and Beauty Club Member.

Found Item — A cell phone was found at 5:14 p.m. at the corner of Green Bay Road and Park Avenue.

 

Dec. 12

Wires Down — Telephone wires were lying across the roadway at 7:27 a.m. on the 800 block of Sheridan Road.

 

Dec. 11

Driving with Suspended License — A 32-year-old Chicago man was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license, no insurance, no front license plate and a cracked windshield at the intersection of Dundee Road and Pebblewood Lane at 8:41 a.m. His court date is set for Jan. 4.

Barking Dogs — A verbal warning was given after two dogs barked non-stop at 7:42 a.m. on the 100 block of Old Green Bay Road.

 

Dec. 10

Car Accident —­ A railroad gate came down on a 46-year-old Glencoe woman's car at 5:57 p.m. on Maple Hill Road just east of Green Bay Road. She was trying to cross the tracks, went through one gate, then a second train came, putting down the second gate before she could get through the crossing. She backed her car up and the first gate came down on her car. She was cited for damaging the Union Pacific Railroad's property.

Suspicious Person — An elderly woman reported seeing a prowler in her backyard at 8:42 p.m. on the 100 block of Wentworth Avenue. He was described as a 5-foot-7 white man with brown hair, who wore a black and white striped shirt. He was looking in her kitchen window from the backyard.

Stray Dog — A large black sheep dog ran into a person's yard and scared a boy at 8:44 a.m. on the 500 block of Washington Avenue.

 

Dec. 9

Lost Item — A black wallet was lost with credit cards and an employee ID inside at 6:59 a.m. on the 300 block of Hazel Avenue.
