Glencoe Blotter: Man Arrested as Pot Falls Out of Glove Box

A summary of crimes reported in Glencoe from July 24 to 28.

The following items are taken from the Glencoe Public Safety Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please email the editor with any questions or to provide proof of expungement.

Drug Paraphernalia — A Woodstock man was arrested during a traffic stop on the 700 block of Dundee Road at 8:44 p.m. The driver of a blue 2000 Pontiac Grand Am made a left turn without a signal, causing a public safety officer to stop. When the front-seat passenger, Matthew P. McGinley, 19, opened the glove box for insurance and registration, police said some marijuana fell out along with a glass pipe. McGinley was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. His court date is set for Aug. 11.

July 26

Trespassing — Five people were cited for trespassing onto private property at Dell Place Beach at 2:45 p.m. The five included Jacob L. Pridgeon, 20, of Winnetka; Joseph R. Wortell, 20, of Glencoe; and three 15-year-old Northfield girls.

 

July 25

Theft — The front license plate and grill of a blue-gray BMW 750 was stolen sometime between July 20 and July 22 while the car was parked on the street on the 100 block of Old Green Bay Road. The theft was reported at 4:13 p.m.

 

July 24

Vandalism — Some teenagers were spotted ripping down the street sign at the corner of Mayfair Lane and Sunset Lane at 9:03 p.m. A resident saw them as they ran into a turquoise and white taxi cab.

Theft – Two bicycles were stolen from someone's front lawn between 10 p.m. and 11:07 p.m. on the 500 block of Greenwood Avenue. The bikes were recovered that night at the Hubbard Woods Metra station in Winnetka.
