Glencoe Blotter: House Looted of $10,000 Jewelry; Alleged Drunk Driver Hides in Bushes

A summary of crimes reported in Glencoe from Aug. 25 to 31.

The following items are taken from the Glencoe Public Safety Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please email the editor with any questions or to provide proof of expungement.

Aug. 31

Driving under the Influence — Frank R. Palm, 45, of the Budlong Woods neighborhood of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 2:13 a.m. on the corner of Dundee Road and Greenwood Avenue. Police said he was driving his silver 2006 Toyota Matrix hatchback at a high rate of speed east on Dundee from the Edens Expressway. He was clocked at 40 mph in a 25 mph zone. The Toyota then made a right turn onto Greenwood and then left into the driveway of an unknown person. Police said that Palm walked out of the car barefoot and then dove into the bushes near the house. The driver allegedly said he knew he'd be in trouble because he had been drinking. He claimed he was visiting his girlfriend's mother on Vernon Avenue. His court date is set for Sept. 28.

Egging — A vehicle was egged while it was parked in a driveway on the 300 block of Palos Avenue at 9:44 p.m.

Aug. 28

Theft — A 12-year-old girl reported her white, $300 Apple iPhone was stolen from the basketball courts on the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue between 4:40 p.m. and 5:09 p.m. A lot of people were at the park at the time playing basketball and football. Police said a witness believed a group of five males with their shirts off may have taken the phone.

Burglary — The passenger window of a car was knocked out on the 600 block of Grove Street between 4:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. A $350 green canvas purse was stolen, along with $200, a $180 Casio digital camera. The thieves also made $50 in false charges on a Shell gas card in Skokie and a $100 false charge on an American Express card in Niles.

Arrest Warrant — Vincenzo E. Tricoci, 42, of Roselle was arrested on a pair of warrants. He had been stopped for driving a white 2010 Isuzu Ryder truck in Glencoe with no tail lights at 9:19 p.m. on the corner of Green Bay Road and Temple Court. Police said he also had no insurance and his driver's license was suspended. He had been wanted for failing to appear in court on the suspended driver's license charge in Roselle in 2008 and 2010.

Trespassing — A 23-year-old Westmont man and a 23-year-old Hinsdale woman were cited on charges of being on the Glencoe Beach after hours at 11:53 p.m.

 

Aug. 27

Burglary — A house on the 700 block of Bluff Street was found burglarized at 9:20 a.m. on Aug. 26. The owners had been on vacation since Aug. 11, and when they returned home they found a window on the back of the house pushed open. The dresser drawers in the bedroom were found opened and $10,000 worth of jewelry stolen.

Starbucks Dispute — Two customers were squabbling at Starbucks on the 300 block of Park Avenue at 9:03 p.m. The Starbucks manager told police that one of the customers may have been using drugs. That subject admitted to being loud and then left the premises when police arrived.

Egging — A house was egged on the 700 block of Apple Tree Lane at 11:24 p.m. The house had been egged once before that week.

Loud Bat Mitzvah — Police were called on a bat mitzvah in the park near South School on the 200 block of Linden Avenue. The compainant said the loud speaker in the park was disturbing the peace of the neighborhood at 7:26 p.m. The organizers of the bat mtzvah were told to lower their volume.

Littering — Two bags full of beer bottles and cans were found dumped in the parkway in front of a house on the 100 block of Scott Avenue at 4:06 p.m.

 

Aug. 26

Loud Party — Police were called on a loud party at 10:56 p.m. on the 300 block of Woodlawn Avenue. The party was attended by adults, and the homeowner was advised to keep the sound down.

Dispute — A verbal argument broke out between passengers of a car on the corner of Park Avenue and Sheridan Road at 11:05 p.m. The occupants were from the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago and Arlington Heights.

 

Aug. 25

Stolen Bike — A maroon girls' Diamondback bicycle was left at the Glencoe Train Depot on Aug. 16 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The bike was not reported missing until 5:20 p.m. on Aug. 25 on the 700 block of Old Green Bay Road.

Found Bicycle — A bicycle was recovered on the 300 block of Park Avenue at 1:35 a.m.
