Glencoe Blotter: Hitchiker Runs Late; Man Cited For Marijuana

A summary of crimes reported in Glencoe from Sept. 9-15.

The following items are taken from the Glencoe Public Safety Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sept. 9

Suspicious Incident  According to reports, a plastic bag with a white powder was found at the corner of Sheridan Road and Ravine Glade Street at 2:13 p.m. The substance was determined to be baking soda.

Stray Dog  Officers received a call about two cockapoo dogs off their leash and reportedly out of control at 5:34 p.m. in Watts Park, 300 block of Randolph Avenue.

Sept. 10

Bicycle Damaged  Officers received a report that a bicycle left over the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashana at Central School sustained $50 in damage.

Suspicious Incident Officers responded to a report of four young men allegedly smoking illegal drugs at 7 p.m. on a back porch in the 400 block of Jackson Avenue.

Sept. 11

Parking Complaint  Officers asked cars to move after they received calls about parking problems at a yard sale in 700 block of Sheridan Road.

Noise Complaint  Officers responded to a report of loud music from party at 9:41 p.m. in 500 block of Longwood Avenue and told juveniles to turn down the volume.

Juvenile Nuisance  Officers received a call that a group of juveniles were ringing a doorbell repeatedly at 10:58 p.m. in the 100 block of Lake Street. Officers were unable to locate the group.

Noise Complaint  Officers shut down a party at 11:13 p.m. in the 500 block of Longwood Avenue after they received a noise complaint.

Sept. 12

Juvenile Nuisance  A woman called public safety after she reportedly found eggs in her driveway at 11:07 a.m. in the 700 block of Apple Tree Lane.

Theft  An iPhone was reported stolen at 11:50 a.m. in the 700 block of Greenwood Avenue.

Sept. 13

Suspicious Person  Officers received a report of a gray-haired man seen trying to hitchhike at 8:10 a.m. in the 1100 block of Hohlfelder Road. According to reports, the man told police that he missed his cab ride to the train station and was trying to catch a ride. Police took him to train station.

Theft  Landscaping stones were reported stolen in the 900 block of Eastwood Drive at 3:54 p.m.

Grill Fire A gas grill reportedly caught fire at 4:39 p.m. in the 1100 block of Terrace Court.

Sept. 14

Cannabis Possession  A man was found with less than 30 grams of marijuana at 10:16 p.m. in the 500 block of Longwood Avenue. According to the reports, the man claimed it was medical marijuana and was given a citation.

Sept. 15

DUI Arrest  A man was arrested after allegedly driving an automobile onto the parkway while under the influence of drugs at 6:06 a.m. at the corner of Lake Cook and Green Bay roads.
