Glencoe Blotter: Evanston Woman Arrested on DUI Charge; Two Rings Stolen from Nail Salon

A summary of crimes reported in Glencoe from Sept. 11 to 15.

The following items are taken from the Glencoe Public Safety Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please email the editor with any questions or to provide proof of expungement.

Sept. 15

Trespassing — A 26-year-old man residing in Chicago was on the beach at the corner of Longwood Avenue and Park Avenue at 12:47 a.m. The man was not American, and he was advised of park hours and sent on his way.

Sept. 14

Driving under the Influence — Nina A. Paleologos, 53, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 10:19 p.m. She was stopped for speeding 58 in a 30 mph zone and driving with one hidelight south on Green Bay Road from Dundee Road to Hawthorn Avenue. Paleologos was driving a gray 2005 BMW 650ci. She was given tickets for the speed charge and the headlight violation. Her court date is set for Oct. 19.

 

Sept. 13

Theft — Two rings were reported stolen from the nail salon on the 700 block of Green Bay Road at 1:08 p.m. The rings were valued at more than $300.

Found Article — A wallet was found at the corner of Green Bay Road and Park Avenue at 4:37 p.m. The owner had been in Village Hall at the same time looking for it.

 

Sept. 12

Juvenile Nuisance — A juvenile punctured the rear tire of a gray Cannondale Q6 boys' bicycle on the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue at 3:48 p.m. The child's parent promised to make restitution.

Stray Dogs — Donald E. Manhard, 50, of Glencoe was cited on two counts of stray dogs and the animals were impounded at 1:52 p.m. on the 100 block of Hawthorn Avenue.

 

Sept. 11

Marijuana Possession — A 17-year-old Wilmette boy was cited on charges of possession of less than an eighth-ounce of marijuana at 3:47 p.m. on the 100 block of Glenwood Avenue. Butler was cited with a ticket and released. Police said they were stacking beer cans at Glencoe Park. The boy and his companion were asked to empty their pockets, and the one who was cited had an apple hollowed out for smoking pot and a small baggy of weed.

Loud Party — A small group was sitting around a campfire, playing a guitar and singing patriotic songs at 12:40 a.m. on the 200 block of Lincoln Drive. Police were called because it was late and the music was traveling far. The group decided to move inside for the night.

Public Drinking — A boy and a girl about 15 years of age were reportedly drinking on the Dell Beach at 10:12 p.m. on the corner of Dell Place and Lakeside Terrace. They ran away when confronted by police, ditching five beers.
