Glencoe Blotter: Burglary Hits Couple at Dinner, Pair of Speeders Doing 100 on the Edens

A summary of crimes reported in Glencoe from Nov. 18 to 24.

The following items are taken from the Glencoe Public Safety Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Nov. 24

Graffiti — The skate park and a camper trailer were sprayed with graffiti, including depictions of male genitalia at the Glencoe Park District Headquarters between 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 23 and 9 a.m. on Nov. 24.

Found Item — A credit card was found on the sidewalk outside the Bank of America at 2:14 p.m. on the 300 block of Park Avenue.

 

Nov. 21

Driving under the Influence — A 21-year-old Highwood man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving more than 100 miles an hour north on the Edens Expressway, just north of Tower Road at 1:48 a.m.. He was also cited for failure to signal and driving with a suspended license. His court date is set for Dec. 17.

Driving with a Suspended License — A 25-year-old Waukegan man was arrested on charges of driving with suspended license while driving 99 miles per hour north on the Edens Expressway, just north of Tower Road at 4:49 a.m. His court date is set for Jan. 4.

Driving without a License -- A 17-year-old Chicago boy was arrested at 1:03 p.m. on charges of driving without a license and driving the wrong way down a one-way street on the 400 block of Park Avenue. His court date is Jan. 4. His passenger, a 18-year-old Chicago man, was cited for possession of less than 2.5 grams of marijuana.

Underage Consumption — A 19-year-old Glencoe man was seen drinking a can of beer at Watt's Ice Arena parking lot on the 300 block of Randolph Street and was given a ticket for minor in possession of alcohol.

 

Nov. 20

Burglary — A couple came home to find their house had been gone through by a burglar at 10:51 p.m. on the 500 block of Drexel Avenue. They went out to dinner at 6:15 p.m. and came back and found cash and jewelry had been stolen. They apparently had forgotten to lock the door when they went out.

 

Nov. 19

Domestic Battery — A 60-year-old Glencoe man was arrested on charges of domestic battery after a fight with his ex-wife at 9:35 p.m. on 300 block of Park Place. He pushed her and she tripped and fell backwards. His court date is set for Dec. 1.

Criminal Damage to Property — Five 16-year-olds reportedly vandalized a house at 9:49 p.m. on 600 block of Washington Avenue.

 

Nov. 18

Driving with Suspended License — A 29-year-old Wilmette man was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance at 11:54 a.m. on Dundee Road at the Edens Expressway. An officer saw the man who knew him and knew his license was suspended. His court date is set for Dec. 17.

Stray Dog — A stray dog was wandering around at 8:05 a.m. on the 300 block of Vernon Avenue.
