Glencoe Blotter: Art Fair Theft Stopped

A summary of crimes reported in Glencoe from July 29 to July 31.

The Glencoe Public Safety Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please email the editor with any questions or to provide proof of expungement.

July 31

Fake ID — A juvenile tried to use a fake identification at the 7-Eleven store in the 100 block of Green Bay Road.

July 30

Theft — A woman in a tie-dye T-shirt and white shorts reportedly stole jewelry from a booth at the Festival of the Masters art fair in the 700 block of Vernon Avenue. The art booth attendant chased the woman down and got the ring back before the offender fled the area.

Loud Party — Police were called to a loud party in the 1000 block of Oak Ridge Drive at 12:45 a.m. They advised the occupants to keep the noise down, and the partygoers said they would move the festivities inside.

July 29

Domestic Battery — A woman and a man, both 36-year-old Glencoe residents, were arrested on charges of domestic battery at 11:27 p.m. in the 200 block of Green Bay Road. The woman was released, but bond for the man at the Cook County Jail was set at $110,000.

Stray Dog — A stray dog was found stuck in a trash can at 9:13 a.m. next to the guard tower at the Glencoe Beach in the 100 block of Hazel Avenue. The dog was taken to the Glencoe Animal Hospital. The mixed-breed dog had been reported missing two weeks before in Deerfield.

Suspicious Persons — Two men came to the front door of a house at 5:56 p.m. in the 1100 block of Mayfair Lane, claiming to be the sons of President Barack Obama and offering cookies. The homeowner said they weren't trying to peddle items, politics or religion.
