Glencoe Blotter: 8 Teens Cited for Underage Drinking; Woman Reports Stolen Faux Mink

A summary of crimes reported in Glencoe from Feb. 3-9.

The following items are taken from the Glencoe Public Safety Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Lost Item — A woman reported she lost her clarinet at 1:50 p.m. in the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue. The loss occurred around Jan. 24.

Feb. 6

Theft — A woman's faux mink vest was stolen from a closet in her home in the 100 block of Maple Hill Road between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 5. Nothing else was taken and the doors of the house were locked when she returned home, with no sign of forced entry. The vest is valued at about $150.

Damage to Village Property — A curb was cracked and damaged in a car accident at 9:41 a.m. at the corner of South Avenue and Valley Road.

Found Item — A blue and gray Giant Boulder bicycle was found buried in the snow at 11:54 a.m. at the train station in the 700 block of Old Green Bay Road.

 

Feb. 5

Underage Drinking — A party was broken up at 11:45 p.m. involving teenage drinking in the 300 block of Jefferson Avenue. A 16-year-old Glencoe girl was charged with underage drinking for hosting the party. Seven other teenagers, ages 15-17, were also cited for underage possession of alcohol. Five of them were from Evanston, one was from Wilmette and one was from Chicago. Police said they heard about the party from a report made by the parent of a child who had left the party. Police went to the house and woke up the girl's father, who told the officers that he was unaware of the ongoing party. Upon searching the house, police found the teens hiding in various rooms and closets.

Hit and Run — A red Pontiac G6 was damaged by another car in the parking lot at Temple Court and Vernon Avenue at 11:26 p.m.

Juvenile Nuisance — Male teenagers were seen urinating in public and littering from a stopped blue four-door Nissan pickup truck. The boys were all 17 years old. One was from Winnetka, one from Glencoe, one from Northfield and one from Wilmette.

 

Feb. 4

with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful concealment of vehicle identity, unlawful defacement of manufacturer's identification number and possessing a counterfeit insurance card. He was stopped by police at 1:57 p.m. in the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue.

Juvenile Nuisance — Youths were found sliding their sleds down a snow hill and knocking snow into traffic at 5:05 p.m. in the 300 block of Temple Court.

 

Feb. 3

Snow Dumping — A woman complained that the snow from the West School was being shoveled and dumped on her property at 3:41 a.m. in the 1000 block of Forestway Drive.

Found Wallet — A wallet was found in the 100 block of Green Bay Road at 5:53 p.m. It contained an Illinois driver's license, a New Trier Township identification card and a Metra card.
