Glencoe Blotter: $1,000 Bike Stolen

A summary of crimes reported in Glencoe from Aug. 1 to Aug. 3.

The Glencoe Public Safety Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please email the editor with any questions or to provide proof of expungement. 

Aug. 3

Theft — A black BSA cruiser bicycle was stolen 8:05 p.m. at the Glencoe Public Library in the 300 block of Park Avenue. The bike was unlocked and valued at $1,000.

Found Bike — A boys Trek BMX bike was found at 10:32 a.m. on the Glencoe Beach in the first block of Park Avenue. The bicycle was brought into the police station.

Open Container — Chad L. Reinart, 26, of Rock Island was cited on charges of driving with a cracked windshield and with an open alcohol container. Police initially stopped his vehicle because of the cracked windshield. When the officer asked Reinart if he had anything illegal in the car, he said that he had found an open bottle of vodka and put it under his seat.

Suspicious Bike — A woman reported at 8:35 a.m. that a bicycle kept appearing in front of her house in the 100 block of Lake Street. The bicycle had been parked the day before, unlocked with a spray can next to it. This time, the bike was locked up.

Stray Cat – A gray and white cat was reported in a backyard at 9:24 a.m. in the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue. A public safety officer tried to catch the cat but failed.

Aug. 1

Missing Phone — A black Samsung flip cell phone was reported lost at 5:26 a.m. at the Metra parking lot near the corner of Green Bay Road and Park Avenue. The owner said the phone was lost the day before.
