Damaged Car Sighting Leads to Hit and Run Arrest

Northfield police arrested a Wheeling woman who left her vehicle by the side of the road after a hit and run.

The following reports were provided by the Northfield Police Department. Arrests and charges are accusations and do not indicate guilt.

Hit and Run

On April 20, a caller reported a Toyota van was driving with two flat front tires and heavy front end damage near Willow Road and Sunset Ridge Road, according to police. The van then pulled over to the shoulder of Willow Road and the driving was seen running from the vehicle, according to reports.

Officers found Marleny Nmi Gutirez, 20, of Wheeling and charged her with hit and run, felony DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol and driving without insurance.

On April 20, someone reported a suspicious man in a black, hooded sweatshirt standing by a utility box on the 200 block of S. Happ Road, according to police. The man told a responding officer he is a carpenter waiting for his boss to arrive for a job in the area, police say.
