Chicago Man Arrested for Residential Burglary
In a separate incident, two pairs of earrings worth $5,000 were stolen from an Oakley Ave. home.
The following information is from the Winnetka Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.
Theft
Someone stole two pairs of earrings from a jewelry box in a second-floor bedroom of a home in the 1000 block of Oakley Avenue between May 17 and 24. Loss is estimated at more than $5,000.

A red Schwinn bike that was secured to a tree in the 700 block of Elm Street was stolen between May 24 and 27. Loss is estimated at $270.
Burglary arrest

Franshawn A. Whittenburg, 41, of the 7700 block of Winchester Avenue in Chicago, was arrested for residential burglary and possession of stolen property May 29 at 10:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Happ Road in Northfield. The arrest was made just after a burglary occurred.
He was also arrested on a warrant for parole violation.
Criminal damage
Someone entered a gated back yard in the 1000 block of Starr Road between 7 and 10 p.m. May 24 and threw clay planters into the pool, damaging the pool cover. Repair is estimated at $950.
Someone damaged a vehicle parked in an alley in the 1000 block of Cherry Street between 6:45 p.m. May 30 and noon June 1. Repair is estimated at $300.
Identity theft
Someone attempted to open several accounts using a victim’s personal information. There was no reported loss.
