Bicyclist Hit by Car in Winnetka Tuesday

Driver of vehicle was cited for failure to yield when making a left turn at the intersection of Green Bay and Willow Roads.

A bicyclist from Glencoe was hit by a vehicle early Tuesday morning at the intersection of Green Bay and Willow roads.  

According to Deputy Chief Joe Pellus of the Winnetka Police Department, the bicyclist was transported to Evanston Hospital with non-life threatenining injuries.  

The accident happened just before the morning rush hour at 6:17 a.m.

The driver, who is a Winnetka resident, was travelling northbound on Green Bay Road and attempted to head west on Willow Road when he struck the man on the bicycle, according to Pellus.  

The bicyclist, at the time of the collision, was heading southbound on Green Bay Road.

The driver was cited for failure to yeild when making a left turn.  

The identity of both individuals are not being released by police, Pellus said.
