4 Car Burglaries, 3 Home Break-Ins Reported in Glencoe

The incidents occurred in the last ten days.

Four more car break-ins and three more home break-ins were reported in Glencoe this week.

The car break-ins occurred sometime Monday night on streets near the intersection of Forestway Drive and Dundee Road. Details are below.

  • Someone rifled through an unlocked black 2005 Chevy Silverado pickup truck and stole a $100 Garmin GPS device on the 600 block of Sunset Lane between 6:15 p.m. on May 23 and 6:30 a.m. on May 24.
  • Someone broke into an unlocked silver 2006 Acura MDX parked in its owner's driveway on the 1000 block of Hohlfelder Road between 7 p.m. on May 23 and 8 a.m. on May 24. A driver's license and two credit cards were missing from a wallet found in the center console when the owner reported the incident at 9:20 a.m. Two purchases were reported in Evanston with one of the credit cards following the burglary.
  • An unlocked blue 2010 Mazda was reportedly burglarized between 8 p.m. on May 23 and 6 a.m. on May 24 on the 1000 block of Hohlfelder Road. Two iPod music players were stolen worth $250 each and a Garmin GPS device worth $150.
  • A burglar entered an unlocked white 2008 Ford Taurus between 7:30 p.m. on May 23 and 5:30 a.m. on May 24 and stole $40, two iPod music players and a fly-fishing tod. The burglary occurred in the 600 block of Dundee Road and the total value of the items taken amounted to $570.

Missing items were reported in one of the three home break-ins. The break-ins occurred on May 19 and May 20.

  • Someone tried to burglarize a house between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.on the 1100 block of Oak Ridge Drive on May 20. The burglars kicked in a basement window which set off an alarm, so then they ran through the house and out the front door. Nothing was taken.
  • A burglary was reported in the 700 block of Woodridge Lane. Someone pried open a basement window and stole Jewelry and silver flatware between 10:15 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on May 20.
  • Burglars forced open a door on an external sunroom but were unable to enter the main house between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on May 19 in the 300 block of Sheridan Road.
