Winnetka Obituary: Eleanor Anne Rossi, 90

Visitation and a funeral service will be held Monday.

The following obituary is from Donnellan Family Funeral Home:

Eleanor "Ellie" Anne Rossi, age 90, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2014 at the Vi at the Glen Care Center, in Glenview, Illinois 

Only daughter of the late Anne Stoll, born Reilly, and Herman X. Stoll, she is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Ralph W. Rossi, as well as her loving children Linda A. (Martin) Delaney, William S. ((Elizabeth)Rossi, Elizabeth A. Pessl-Rossi (Helmut Pressl), John X. (Leslie) Rossi and the late Pamela M. Rossi; proud grandmother of eleven; survived by many kind and loving friends. 

Eleanor was born on July 15, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School and subsequently studied music at Northwestern University. Her wonderful piano playing was enjoyed over the years by her whole family. She had the Minute Waltz down to 59 seconds. 

Married November 26, 1949, she and her husband lived in Evanston, Wilmette and Winnetka, providing their children a warm and nurturing family life. 

A devoted Catholic all her life, Eleanor was a kindhearted, generous person, possessing a wry humor and loved a good laugh. She was an insatiable reader, an avid Anglophile, and loved books, travel, and antiques. She enjoyed knitting and needlepoint, and played bridge with her Ttri Delta Sorority sisters regularly. 

The family wishes to thank all of those at the Care Center who cared for her over the last sixteen months.
