Obituary: Richard Spring, 86, WWII Vet

He is remembered as an avid golfer and painter who regularly attended the Men's Club at the North Shore Senior Center.

Richard Spring, age 86, passed away Saturday, November 24th, 2012 in his Winnetka home surrounded by family. He was born in Davenport, IA on June 8th, 1926, the son of Charles and Hilda Mummert Spring.

He married Ellie Miller on October 1st, 1955. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ellie and his brother Robert. Dick served in the Navy during World War II. He then attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and enjoyed a life-long career as a graphic designer working for University Press and Portland Cement Association. Dick was an avid painter and golfer who was a regular attendee of the Men’s Club at the North Shore Senior Center. He loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren.

The beloved husband of the late Ellie Spring, Dick is survived by daughters Sue Spring (Nick Abdalla) of Albuquerqe, NM, Katie (Fritz) Reasons of Battle Creek, MI, Sarah (Dan) Rudrud of Wilmette, IL and son Rich (Nancy) Spring of Winnetka, IL; grandchildren Jonathan and Chris Abdalla, Corin Dupree, Elijah and Samantha Reasons, Tom and Katie Rudrud, Maggie, Charlie, Ben and Annie Spring; great grandchildren Chrissy Kaskabas, Nicky and Aidan Abdalla and his sister Nancy (Ron) Anderson.
