Chickens in Glencoe

Support for backyard chickens in Glencoe is growing. There is an informational meeting this Thursday, Oct. 4 at the Glencoe Public Library to find out more about chickens!

As part of sustainable living, I am mounting an effort to allow backyard chickens in Glencoe. The Village Board was open to the idea, but wanted to see if there was any support in the community before they took the issue up. I started to gather signatures a couple of days ago and guess what? EVERYONE I talked to was supportive of the issue and signed the petition, except for one woman who had to ask permission from her husband (there's one family in Glencoe that has a chicken!).

We are having an informational meeting this Thursday, Oct. 4, at 7:00 PM at the Glencoe Public Library. We are fortunate to have Jennifer Murtoff there. She is THE urban chicken consultant. So come to find out everything you wanted to know about chickens.

Check out the Glencoe News article at http://glencoe.suntimes.com/photos/galleries/15359132-417/will-chickens-fly-in-glencoe.html and my blog at glencoechickens.blogspot.com . On that blog, there is a link to an online version of the petition, so if you live in Glencoe, PLEASE sign the petition!
