Thomas Edison: America's Inventor
With 1093 patents, Thomas Edison was truly "America's Inventor." R.J. Lindsey of Living History Theater will portray this famed inventor to showcase his life story. He will share stories from his childhood - called 'addled' by his schoolteacher - and his first chemistry experiments which sometimes exploded and caused fires. He will discuss Edison's travels around the Midwest that led to his invention of an automatic telegraph signal. And he will share stories behind his greatest inventions, including his difficulty in finding the right light bulb filament and the development the phonograph and motion picture camera.
