The Crusades: The First Religious Wars (NSSC Class)
The Crusades (1095-1291) have been hailed as the climax of Western European achievement or condemned as the first thrust of European imperialism into the Muslim Near East. But these many wars forever altered the three medieval civilizations: Latin Christendom, Islam, and the East Roman or Byzantine Empire. The Crusades were a primary force for profound changes in political, cultural, religious, economic, and social life that gave birth to the early modern age. And these changes still influence our world today. Jim Kenney leads the class. There will be three sessions on Tuesdays beginning March 11, from 1pm - 2:30pm
The cost is $30 member; $39 non-member and registration is required by calling 847/784-6030. Website www.nssc.org.
