Soulshine Yoga & Meditation: Rise Above the Winter Blues

If winter’s short days and cold weather leave you feeling lethargic, gloomy, or stuck in a funk, you’re not alone.  Science tells us that extended periods without sunlight can wreak havoc on our body and mind leading to poor sleep, irritability, and the inability to concentrate.  Science also tells us that there is a direct relationship between the practice of yoga and meditation and the alleviation of these symptoms.

The Soulshine Yoga and Meditation Workshop will give you techniques to adjust your body through an energizing yoga practice and meditation.  Christy O’Brien will guide you through an uplifting practice and an easy meditation, followed by tea, handouts, and conversation.  You’ll leave feeling warm, uplifted, and with the tools to get through the rest of the winter!

In addition to teaching yoga, Christy has her master’s degree in social work (University of Denver 1998) and bachelor’s degree in psychology (Drake University 1994) and has done advanced research on the connection between yoga and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), anxiety, and depression.
